Introducing EPIX from Garlock Sealing Technologies.
The EPIX material solves many gasketing challenges that exist in process piping, such as improper bolt load, aggressive and corrosive media, poor flange condition, and gasket selection.
This material is custom made for compromised flange conditions. Every plant, regardless of age, has flanges that are compromised. This would be rusted, corroded, pitted, steam cut, or otherwise damaged to some degree.
The EPIX material, while utilizing our patented Gylon materials has a unique pattern on both sides of it. The honeycomb pattern (patented) allows this material to tend to flow into the imperfections and create and maintain a seal.
The EPIX material becomes a cost-saving in many ways; only one thickness available, 3/32”, which eliminates having to stock both 1/16” and 1/8”. Not having to replace damaged flanges saves both downtime and materials.
Load retention and concentrated gasket stress are essential parts of the bolted joint. EPIX has superior load retention and concentrated gasket stress to even our conventional flat Gylon product.
Applications for the EPIX material include strong acids, solvents, hydrocarbons, steam, caustics, chlorine, monomers, cryogenics, and refrigerants. This material is so versatile that it can literally replace your soft gasket and PTFE needs.
